đż Step Into Something Extraordinary â The Henderson Shuffle Awaits
Have you ever looked at an ultraâdistance event and thought, âIâd love to try that⌠if only I had more timeâ?
Or wondered what youâre capable of when the pressure of cutâoffs disappears and itâs just you, your pace, and a supportive community around you?
This is your moment.
On Sunday 27 September, we invite you to take part in a 12âhour adventure designed for everyday legends â runners, walkers, shufflers, dreamers, firstâtimers, comebackâqueens, and anyone who wants to discover what they can do when the clock becomes a friend instead of a threat.
From 7am to 7pm, youâll move around a gentle 4km loop as many times as you choose. No pressure. No judgement. Just encouragement, camaraderie, and the quiet thrill of watching your own story unfold, lap by lap.
This is a community event built for all abilities â a place where progress is celebrated, courage is noticed, and every finish is a victory.
If youâve been waiting for the right event to try something big, bold, or beautifully challengingâŚ
This is it.
Letâs shuffle into something unforgettable together
Please note: the path is pushchairâfriendly, but bikes are not permitted on the trail sections. The course is flat with no stairs, so wheelchair users can access it; however, some areas of gravel may be challenging to navigate.
The course
The course is beautifully simple and easy to follow. Youâll begin on wide, smooth cycleway paths before tracing the edge of the Henderson Creek all the way to Border Road. From there, the loop brings you back along a peaceful bush trail on the opposite side of the stream â a perfect mix of open space and native greenery.
Most people will complete a loop in 20â30 minutes running, or 40â50 minutes at a relaxed stroll. But truly, thereâs no rush.
Take your time. Find your rhythm. Enjoy the scenery.
There are no cutâoffs, no pressure, and no minimum pace.
Complete as many loops as you like, whether thatâs one, three, ten, or more. This is your adventure, your way.
đž FourâLegged Runners
Weâre planning a small category especially for our furry, tailâwagging teammates. If your dog would love to trot a few laps beside you, weâd love to hear from you.
Please email info@twistedsistersclub.org to register your interest.
Because adventures are even better with paws involved.
Event village
The event village will be set up in Henderson Park on Wilscher Crescent, right beside the toilet block and drinking fountain. Youâll spot our gazebo easily â this is where youâll find water refills and basic first aid.
While weâll have a central hub, all participants must be selfâsufficient, so be sure to bring plenty of your own food, hydration, and anything else youâll need throughout the day.
Youâre welcome to set up your own small tent or base area, but please remember to leave the park exactly as you found it and take all rubbish home.
If youâd like something hot during the day, the amazing crew from Pilgrims Bandits â a New Zealand charity supporting former defence force members, police, and first responders â will be on site serving delicious hot food. Thereâs also a coffee cart on Wilsher Crescent for your caffeine fix.
Itâs all set up to keep you fuelled, supported, and ready for an unforgettable day out.
Celebrate achievements
Every achievement deserves to be celebrated â whether you complete one loop or twenty. At the Henderson Shuffle, every participant receives a medal and is automatically entered into our spotâprize draws throughout the day.
Weâll be giving away spot prizes every hour, and everyone on the course at the time of the announcement is eligible. It doesnât matter how fast you go or how many loops you complete â if youâre out there moving, youâre in the draw.
Because here, showing up and giving it a go is what truly counts.
The Toughest First Responder Trophy
A friendly but fiercely competitive showdown between Police, Fire, and St John.
Each team takes on the 12âhour challenge to see who can collectively complete the most laps around the Henderson Park course. Itâs loud, itâs energetic, and it brings out the absolute best in our local heroes.
Beyond the competition, the Trophy celebrates the people who serve our community every day. Their presence will hopefully inspire others to get active, join in, and be part of something bigger. Whether theyâre running in full stride or cheering each other on between laps, these teams embody the spirit of resilience, camaraderie, and community pride that defines the Henderson Shuffle.
Who will take the title this year?
West Auckland will be watching.
