The Committee
The amazing Women Behind The Scenes
We have an incredible committee this year. We all have a mixture of skills and we work well as a team to create a fun and supportive enviroment for women to thrive in.
We have a big focus on health and safety and all of our training sessions and events are created with the utmost care. We want to see everyone finish smiling and uninjured.
Anita Hojird
Chair Sister
Anita — registered nurse, powerhouse of wisdom, and current Chairwoman of the Sisterhood — has somehow managed to balance years of medical expertise with a blossoming love affair with triathlon. Honestly, she makes multitasking look effortless.
She first dipped her toes into the sport nearly twenty years ago at the Kellogg’s Special K Women’s Tri, but it wasn’t until the Tauranga Women’s Triathlon in 2023 that she had her big “Oh wow, I actually love this!” moment. Since then, she’s been unstoppable — in the most organised, sensible, voice‑of‑reason way possible.
As the Twisted Sisters’ resident calm-in-the-chaos, Anita’s positivity and grounded guidance have shaped our community into a place where women feel supported, empowered, and encouraged to chase excellence… or at least chase each other around a Sunday shuffle. Her dedication and optimism haven’t just lifted spirits — they’ve sparked a genuine movement toward positive change.
Originally from England, Anita now lives in Manurewa with her husband, and she’s always up for a swim at Takapuna or a Sunday shuffle (which she approaches with equal parts enthusiasm and practicality). She’s an inspiration, a leader, and the steady heartbeat of the Sisterhood.
Kylie Frost
Secretary, Club Coach
Kylie completed her first triathlon back in 2016, bravely embracing the challenge with a doggy paddle so iconic it deserves its own highlight reel. By 2017, she’d levelled up to her first 70.3, and in 2021 she took on Ironman New Zealand — crossing the finish line with just 70 seconds to spare. That’s not just cutting it fine… that’s cinematic‑final‑scene levels of dramatic.
As a registered Triathlon New Zealand coach, Kylie is the definition of “always game.” New challenge? She’s in. New heights? She’s climbing them. New idea? She’s already halfway out the door with her goggles on.
All of this would be impressive enough on its own — but Kylie is also a proud parent of six, a grandparent to two, and somehow works seven days a week without spontaneously combusting. Her passion for helping others and her endless motivation have turned her into a walking, talking inspiration factory.
Our members are lucky enough to have access to Kylie for free coaching at training sessions, and she’s always happy to answer questions — whether it’s about technique, confidence, or simply “Why does the ocean feel like it personally hates me today?” She also offers one‑on‑one coaching plans for anyone chasing their own big dreams and acts as a mentor for beginners finding their feet.
And if you’re wondering where she is during training… look to the back. That’s where Kylie will be — guiding the beginners, calming the nerves, and helping every new Sister discover that they’re capable of far more than they think.
Caitlin Stables
Treasurer
Caitlin is basically a human firecracker — bursting with energy, determination, and a “why not give it a go?” attitude that could power the national grid. From smashing it in competition swimming to boldly diving into the wild world of open‑water adventures, she has an appetite for challenges that most people would only agree to after three coffees and a pep talk.
Her impact doesn’t stop at the water’s edge. As a St John youth leader, Caitlin somehow manages to guide, motivate, and inspire young people while still keeping her own life in one piece — a true miracle worker.
Despite facing her own health hurdles and obstacles, she’s tackled the Tarawera 21k, conquered the Run Auckland series, and is now eyeing up her very first triathlon like, “Yeah, I can take you.” That’s classic Caitlin — unstoppable, unshakeable, and just a little bit fearless.
She embodies everything the Twisted Sisters stand for: proving that with the right support, a determined spirit, and a willingness to work your butt off, absolutely anything is possible.
Joy Kent
Originally from England, Joy arrived in New Zealand a few years ago with a charming accent, a great attitude, and one tiny problem… she was absolutely terrified of water. Like, “No thank you, I’ll stay on land where things make sense” levels of terrified.
But last year, Joy decided she was done letting a lifelong fear boss her around. She marched herself to the local pool, taught herself breaststroke (as you do), and then — in a plot twist none of us saw coming — turned up at Takapuna in October 2024 for her very first open‑water swim. And now? We can’t get her out. Truly. She’s like a joyful aquatic boomerang.
She went on to complete the 2km distance at the Girl Buoy Swim Challenge in March, proving that fear doesn’t stand a chance when Joy decides she’s doing something. And because she’s Joy, breaststroke wasn’t enough — so she set out to learn freestyle too. Of course she did.
It was our absolute honour to award Joy Swimmer of the Year 2024, and we feel genuinely privileged to have her on our committee this season. She’s brave, determined, hilarious, and living proof that it’s never too late to rewrite your story — especially if that story involves a swim cap and a whole lot of courage.
